Atac, Rome’s public transport company, will launch a new app called “Unica” that will allow users to request automatic reimbursement in the event of bus delays of no less than 20 minutes from the scheduled time. This is no small tool, given the inconveniences often created to reach areas of Rome by transportation.
As reported in Repubblica,“The software will be ready in the fall and will allow users to plan trips and claim compensation in case of waits of at least 20 minutes at the stop.”
The main features of this app are:
- Digital wallet to upload purchased tickets
- Reimbursement provided only if the delay is due to causes directly attributable to Atac (excluding strikes, demonstrations or external causes)
Refund will not be paid for delays of less than 20 minutes. The goal is to improve the customer experience and offer a more personalized and simple system for obtaining refunds
This model is part of a broader context of digital innovation in Italian public transport: for example, Trenitalia has already introduced a similar system called “Smart Refund “ that allows instant ticket refunds for delays of more than 60 minutes, providing compensation of 25-50% of the ticket price.
