On Saturday, May 23, 2026,the VILLÆ Institute will participate in the famous European Night of Museums. For the occasion, visitors will be able to explore Tivoli’s archaeological and architectural wonders in a captivating evening setting, for the symbolic price of 1 euro. As Director Alberto Samonà emphasized, the initiative aims to transform these places of memory into vibrant, participatory spaces, combining the charm of history with the excitement of contemporary creativity.
Opening hours and locations for a magical night
The three participating sites will exceptionally extend their opening hours into the evening.
- Sanctuary of Hercules Victor: from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM (last admission at 10:00 PM)
- Villa Adriana: from 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM (last admission at 10:30 PM)
- Villa d’Este: from 7:45 PM to 11:45 PM (last admission at 10:45 PM)
Scheduled performances
The €1 admission ticket includes the opportunity to attend two live performances, designed to highlight the archaeological sites through innovative performance art.
- “The Echo of Eva in the Tango” at the Sanctuary of Hercules Victor (Theater) at 7:30 PM to celebrate Argentine tango as a tool for women’s emancipation. A performance of words, music, and dance that will transform the site into an evocative milonga. In case of rain, it will take place inside the museum.
- “Socrates’ Apology” by Woody Allen at Villa Adriana (Temple of Venus) with three performances at 8:00 PM, 8:45 PM, and 9:30 PM (max 30 spectators per session). La Compagnia delle Arti, with an adaptation by Antonello Avallone, brings to the stage a neurotic and unconventional Socrates. A contemporary reinterpretation, full of irony and surrealism, of the famous philosopher’s final moments.
