Tiber Day 2025, now in its seventh edition, will be held in Rome from October 6 to 12. It is an event dedicated to the enhancement, protection and revitalization of the Tiber River, a true symbol of the city. For one week, the river and its banks will become a great stage for celebration, culture, nature and sports, involving about 200 associations and tens of thousands of citizens.
Tiber Day: the events
Hundreds of free initiatives will be held during Tiber Day, spread over more than 80 kilometers of river, from Nazzano Farfa to Ostia and Fiumicino: nature walks, guided tours, concerts, workshops for families and schools, sports activities, street food and much more. New features for 2025 include the start of tourist navigation north of the Nazzano Farfa Regional Park and “Environmental Lessons” dedicated to children to raise their awareness about caring for the river.
The “We Are Tiber” campaign invites citizens to take care of the river, an even more significant commitment now that the Tiber has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Italian Touring Club, with its volunteer members, offers very evocative cultural itineraries along the river, such as walks around the Tiber Island, visits to monumental complexes, and walks that showcase the history and personalities associated with the Tiber.
Events divided by zones
There are many events scheduled, so we encourage you to look at the initiative’s official website, where you can learn more. To name a few, on October 10 from 9 a.m. a special walk is organized on the Sentiero Laurentino, an urban trail dedicated to water, which winds through the Laurentino Acqua Acetosa Nature Reserve in Rome. The initiative, designed to involve adults and families, involves a small participation fee of 10 euros for adults, while it is free for children. Reservations are required to participate by calling 328 8756942 (Francesca Ronconi).
Another appointment is on October 12, 2025 (Sunday) with the ArcheoRunning event, an experience that combines sport and culture with a light run along the Tiber River, starting from Tiber Island. Guided by a professional culture and sports expert, you will admire the beauty of the Tiber and discover its stories and secrets, crossing symbolic places such as Matteotti Bridge and Lungotevere delle Navi Park, ending at the new park near Ponte Milvio.
The activity, lasting about an hour, is designed for a maximum of 25 participants and will start at 6:30 am. The event is free, with a small reimbursement of 2 euros for radio/whisper rental. Reservations are required via WhatsApp message at 340/5583615.
