Get ready because the Roma Jazz Festival (RJF) is back! Until Nov. 23, Rome is filled with notes, vibes and mind-blowing artists from all corners of the globe. Not only stars, but also innovators of a genre that really has no limits.
Where does the frenzy happen? Dancing between the Auditorium Parco della Musica “Ennio Morricone,” the House of Jazz and Monk. But beware: this year it’s a trip out of town, to the super evocative Fossanova Abbey in Priverno (Latina) – a Gothic-Cistercian gem.
Program: The Names That Make Vibe!

The billboard is insane! Three weeks full-immersion with names that will rock the stages. Here are some must-sees:
- Bilal: An icon! Magnetic voice, a mix of soul, r’n’b, jazz … ready to make you fly (Nov. 5) at Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone
- Peter Erskine Dr.Um Band: A reunion of absolute legends of fusion! An unmissable sonic journey (Nov. 9, 6 p.m.) at Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone
- Cecile McLorin Salvant: The closing artist of the festival is a true theatrical show: jazz, blues, baroque, and a vocal talent that leaves you speechless (Nov. 23 6 pm at Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone).
But it doesn’t end there! Also keep an eye out for talents such as Camilla George (afrobeat and London jazz), Brazilian pianist Amaro Freitas, jazz harp pioneer Alina Bzhezhinska, and a host of others such as Joe Sanders, Hakan Basar, Sade Mangiaracina with Bonnot and Petrella, and youngsters Jemma Collective and Dock in Absolute.
Artistic director Mario Ciampà took inspiration from two giants: Martin Luther King Jr. and John Coltrane. The idea is to use music as a vehicle for harmony, justice and the search for peace, at a time in history that certainly needs it. RJF is not only music, it is also reflection.
Former magistrate Gianrico Carofiglio will give a civil oration on “Kindness in Jazz” (Nov. 3), while Paolo Damiani and Rosario Giuliani will pay tribute to Andrea Camilleri in jazz (Nov. 20).
For Mini-Jazzophiles: Jazz fairy tales in the morning, fun shows for the little ones in swing rhythm, return.
In addition to the concerts, at the Auditorium you will be able to find the sound installation “Invisible, walked to the other” by bMotion Collective, which explores the theme of sound and diversity.
