Ready for Friday traffic? A new transport strike is likely to paralyze Rome on Friday, October 10, 2025. This will be the second in October (although the month has only just begun). This time two different mobilizations have been proclaimed that will affect only Atac staff, much of Rome’s public transport.
The ATAC strike on October 10.
The first protest is a 24-hour strike called by the Sul union, while the second is a 4-hour mobilization, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., proclaimed by the Usb Lavoro Privato and Orsa Tpl unions. Excluded from the strike will be the routes operated on behalf of Atac by other subcontracted operators: lines 021, 043, 075, 33, 77, 113, 246, 246P, 313, 319, 351, 435 (with the exception of the 6:32 a.m. run from Via Dante da Maiano) 500, 515, 551, 669, 980.
During the day of the strike, service will be guaranteed only in the statutory guarantee periods: from the start of service until 8:29 a.m. and then from 5:00 p.m. to 7:59 p.m. In all other time slots, service may be interrupted or suspended, and escalators, elevators, and stair elevators will not be available at open metro-rail stations. For more information regarding guaranteed rides, we recommend viewing the continuously updated ATAC website on the October 10 strike.
In addition, ticket office service is not guaranteed during the strike day; online ticket offices remain available. Interchange parking lots remain open.
The reasons for this mobilization are not related to international issues such as the war in Gaza, but rather to protests against working conditions by Atac.
Those who will have to travel by public transportation in Rome on Friday, October 10, can stay updated on the official channels of Atac and the City of Rome to better plan their day and avoid long waits.

Alternative means of transportation
During the strike it is better not to get around with your private car to avoid long lines (many will have this idea). Other solutions in the city are:
- take advantage of shared mobility means such as bike sharing, scooters and electric scooters, which are widespread especially near stations and main stops.
- use car sharing for longer trips, but carefully assessing the availability of parking and always the problem of busy roads.
