Rome continues its rise and confirms its status as one of the queens of Europe. In Resonance Consultancy’s prestigious “Europe’s Best Cities 2026” report, the Eternal City takes 4th place overall, ranking just behind the giants London, Paris, and Berlin. The report assesses whether a city is a good place to live, work, invest, and travel.
Rome: A Rebirth between History and the Future
According to the analysis, which combines statistical data and the perceptions of thousands of European residents, Rome is no longer seen merely as an “open-air museum,” but as a metropolis capable of transforming its challenges into opportunities for progress.
The report highlights how the 2025 Jubilee has been the real driver of change. Massive investments in infrastructure, the restoration of iconic monuments, and the redevelopment of public spaces have significantly improved the perception of the city.
Rome shines particularly brightly in the “Sights & Landmarks” category, where it ranks first in Europe. However, what made the difference this year was the boom in the luxury hotel sector, with high-profile new openings (such as Bvlgari and Six Senses) attracting international capital.
It’s not just tourism. The report highlights how Rome is becoming a competitive destination for work and investment. Thanks to lower costs than other capitals and a renewed vibrancy in the fashion and technology sectors, the city is attracting talent in the 25-44 age group. The capital is also in the top four in both the Livability and Lovability indices.
