After the Super Pink Moon, it’s time for the Full Moon of the Stags! A spectacular astronomical event not to be missed. Tomorrow night, open your eyes wide!
Why is this full Moon called that?
The Buck Moon, or Deer Moon, is the first Full Moon in July and is named after the natural cycle of male deer (buck in English) in regions of North America. At this time male deer begin to grow their antlers, which will reach their maximum size during the summer before falling in the fall or winter.
This full moon is also sometimes called the Hay Moon because of the hay harvesting period. The Buck Moon illuminates summer nights with a bright light and has a strong symbolic meaning related to growth, renewal and the strength of nature. Spiritually, the Buck Moon is associated with a period of rapid evolution, assertiveness and initiative, ideal for embracing change and new ideas.
It is a summer lunar event rich in natural, cultural and symbolic meanings, celebrating the vitality and cycle of animal and terrestrial life in the heart of summer.
When to see the July Full Moon
Astronomically speaking, in 2025 the Buck Moon will occur on July 10, appearing in the sky in the constellation Sagittarius. It will be visible with a reddish-orange hue, no Super Moon though.
The Buck Moon of 2025 will be visible from Rome starting at sunset on July 10, around 9 pm. From that time, the full Moon will be clearly visible throughout the night, peaking around midnight or shortly thereafter.
So, to admire the Buck Moon from Rome you will have all night tomorrow at your disposal. Best to avoid places with artificial lighting. Staying in the countryside would be ideal.
