Christmas is about to transform EUR into a spectacular setting, thanks to the arrival of the Roma Eye, the largest Ferris wheel the capital has ever hosted. A full 50 meters high, this attraction is poised to redefine the neighborhood’s skyline. The Roma Eye is on Oceania Avenue and will be accessible throughout the holidays, until January 6, 2026. The inauguration will officially take place on December 8, and on December 13 the Rome Eye will become a disco, with DJ sets by Room26.
The switching on of the Christmas lights.
The highlight of the celebrations and the official opening of Christmas at EUR will take place on December 8. On that evening, the wheel is scheduled to be turned on and, as per tradition, the majestic Christmas tree on the Viale Europa Steps (Scalea Carlo Mosca) will be lit. The lights will also illuminate the Steps and the iconic dome of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.
Music and Entertainment: The evening of Dec. 8 will feature musical performances. Singer and actress Vera Dragone will reinterpret Christmas classics in a swinging key, accompanied by the talented trio Ronnie & The Ramblers. Also accompanying the festivities will be the Borgo Velino flag-wavers.
Village, Music and Charity
The Village: A permanent themed village will be set up on America Avenue, close to the picturesque EUR Pond. The village will be open from November 26 to January 6, 2026. Street food, handmade gifts, children’s events and musical dates await. But also hot chocolate for a tasty snack. In contrast, Santa’s House will be open from Nov. 29. Children will be able to leave their little letters.
Christmas Concert: A Charity Christmas Concert is scheduled for Dec. 20 at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. The event, sponsored by Father Luca Atzeni, will donate the entire proceeds to parish Caritas.
