There are songs that, with just a few notes, can transport us back to a summer, a provincial road, or a friendship. The story of 883 begins like this: two young men from Pavia, Max Pezzali and Mauro Repetto, and a dream that seems bigger than the place they come from. This is where *North South West East*—The Legendary Story of 883, the series about the moment the Lombard duo reached the top of the charts—picks up again.
The story continues even off-screen: on November 6, a string quartet brings the music of 883 back to Rome, in the Salone Bernini at Palazzo Ripetta, amid thousands of candles.

When Success Changes Everything
It’s 1993. 883 are at the top of the charts, and their second album, *Nord Sud Ovest Est*, lends its title to this new chapter. Max and Mauro have achieved what they’d been chasing for years: concerts, fans, new opportunities. But up close, life as a pop star is less straightforward than they’d imagined.
Over the course of eight episodes, once again starring Elia Nuzzolo and Matteo Oscar Giuggioli, success takes the two friends far from their everyday lives in Pavia. Amid new romances, the recording studio, and trips that take them as far as Milan and America, Max and Mauro begin to wonder what their next dream will be and whether they’ll manage to stay together.
The series thus moves between the excitement of the 1990s and a more intimate question: what happens when the life you’ve always wanted actually comes true? Because becoming famous can change your habits, your ambitions, and even the way you view the friendship that brought you this far.
In Rome, 883’s songs resonate by candlelight
For those who, after watching the series, want to rediscover those melodies in a different setting, “Candlelight: Tribute to 883” is scheduled for November 6 in Rome. In the Salone Bernini at Palazzo Ripetta, a string quartet will reinterpret the duo’s songs amid thousands of candles.
