Ladispoli is preparing to celebrate its “King of the Garden.” The 73rd Romanesco Artichoke Festival is not just a culinary celebration, but an institutional event that, since 2011, has followed the “Manifesto delle Sagre,” ensuring a virtuous synergy between local restaurants, the Pro Loco, and producers, under the auspices of FIPE and UNPLI.
The event program
On the weekend of April 10, 11, and 12, 2026, the festival returns to enliven Ladispoli. Friday, April 10, will be Talent Day. In Piazza dei Sapori d’Italia (Piazza dei Caduti), visitors can discover the finest offerings from regions such as Abruzzo, Calabria, Sardinia, and many others. Via Duca degli Abruzzi will host art and craft exhibitions, while the afternoon in Piazza Rossellini will be dedicated to local highlights: starting at 3:00 PM , over ten groups—including dance schools, gymnastics clubs, and fitness centers— will take turns on stage, with the evening concluding with concerts by the bands Sound 57 and Garage 32.
The inauguration will take place on Saturday, April 11 . The morning will feature the official ribbon-cutting ceremony in the presence of civil and religious authorities, followed by an evening of great music with a nationally renowned concert.
On Sunday, April 12 , the sculpture challenge will take place . This is the festival’s most iconic moment, where local producers will compete to create incredible sculptures made entirely of artichokes. The festival will conclude with the traditional fireworks display.
The undisputed star is the Lazio Romanesco Artichoke PGI (Protected Geographical Indication), often called “Cimarolo” or “Mammola.” The artichoke is a true ally of good health. It is rich in cynarin, a substance that aids digestion and liver function. Furthermore, it boasts a high fiber content, iron, potassium, and few calories, making it perfect for any diet.
