FAI Fall Days 2024 will be held on October 12 and 13, marking the 13th edition of this important event dedicated to Italy’s cultural heritage and landscape. Organized by the Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI), these days will offer the opportunity to visit 700 extraordinary places in 360 cities, many of which are usually inaccessible to the public. The initiative is part of the “October of FAI” fundraising campaign, active throughout the month.
How do the Fai Days work?
Participants will be able to explore a wide selection of sites, including historic palaces, villas, churches, castles, museums, art collections, archaeological areas and artisan workshops. Village tours and routes to nature areas, urban parks, botanical gardens and historic gardens will be available. The tours will be animated by FAI Youth Groups and volunteers from the Foundation’s Territorial Network.
Ways to Participate
The full list of open places and how to participate will be available soon on FAI’s official website, and during each visit it will be possible to support the Fund’s mission with a donation.
Examples of Extraordinary Openings in Lazio
To give you an idea of the places that can be visited, last spring you could visit:
- Palazzo dell’Agricoltura in Rome: home of the Ministry of Agriculture, with fine artistic and architectural decorations
- Palazzo Marina in Rome: home of the Navy General Staff, with interiors rich in marine symbols
- Villa Maraini in Rome: historic residence now home to the Swiss Institute in Rome
- Mazzocchio water-scooping plant in Pontinia: a key facility for the reclamation of the Agro Pontino area
- Borgo di Ferentino: with historic sites such as the Bishop’s Seminary and the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore
- La Bandita in Tarquinia: a former 18th-century convent transformed by the Chilean artist into a place of work and rest, enriched by his works
These openings offer a unique opportunity to discover hidden treasures of Italian heritage through untold tales and unexpected stories.
