The National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise is one of the oldest and most famous national parks in our country (established in 1923); it welcomes about two million visitors each year. It covers an area of about 50,500 hectares and, as can be guessed from its name, runs through the territories of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise regions. In Lazio the municipalities it touches are Campoli Appennino, Alvito, Picinisco, San Biagio Saracinisco, San Donato Val di Comino, Settefrati and Vallerotonda.
The historic villages within the park make it possible to visit museums and thematic visitor centers. For example, in Campoli Appennino we find the Marsican Brown Bear Wildlife Area, and in Pescasseroli (in Abruzzo) there is the Nature Museum and Wildlife Park.
